Great-grandma shapes AFL dream

‘She used to say to me if I ever get really good, it was thanks to her,’ Hannah said.

The 16-year-old recently returned from the state youth girls national championships in Darwin, where the WA under-16 team won the grand final against the previously undefeated Victoria 6.3 (39) to 5.4 (34).

‘When there was 10 seconds left, we had the ball and I knew we were going to win,’ she said.

‘Then the siren went and it was just the best feeling ever.’
