GREENWOOD stand-up paddle boarder Peter Tomsett is one of the strong chances to claim the top category at the final event of the WA SUP titles this weekend.

The action heads to Avalon Point in Mandurah, where six divisions will be decided after the opening event at Rottnest Island last month.

The competitors will also be looking to book a place on the WA team for the national championships.

Surfing WA events manager Justin Majeks said recent form indicated Tomsett would be one to watch in the blue ribbon Open men’s division as well as Gracetown brothers Rick and Jake Jakovich and Spearwood resident Crawford Only.

The competitors could face some trying conditions.

“Despite a tricky forecast, we look forward to crowning our State SUP champions along the Peel coastline,” Majeks said. “The waterways and waves around Mandurah are ideal for stand-up paddleboarding.”

Duncraig resident Chris Twomey will hunt victory in the Over-50 division.
