Heeps of class: young motorbike rider Cam takes out Rob Woffinden Classic

Tyler BrownWanneroo Times

YOUNG motorbike rider Cam Heeps followed up his fourth state title win by taking out the 500cc solos Rob Woffinden Classic for the second time earlier this month.

His success makes him the first rider in the nine-year history of the event to have won it twice.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for Heeps, starting the final race in gate four behind Daniel Winchester, who had won all five of his heats, Swede Kenny Wennerstam, who had only dropped two points in his heats, and Joel Anderson who had qualified after winning the B-grade final.

He made his way to third place coming out of turn two and was able to take the lead through turns three and four, where he held on until the end to claim the title.
