Hillarys surfer beats world champion Gilmore

Palmateer finished 14th at last year’s ASP Women’s Tour and recently won the trials of the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro, defeating five-times world champion Steph Gilmore, to win the Jodie Cooper Medal for WA Female Surfer of the Year.

When accepting the award, Palmateer thanked her family and friends for all their support.

Other winners were Margaret River’s Jacob Willcox with WA Junior Surfer of the Year and for the 11th time, Yallingup’s Taj Burrow was named WA’s Male Surfer of the Year.
