Hopes win is line in sand for dominant Wildcats

Captain Damian Martin celebrated the three-game series win on the Scarborough sand with co vice-captains Shawn Redhage and Greg Hire, who carried the record sixth NBL championship trophy down to the water.

Martin said the grand final win vindicated the past two disappointing years for the Wildcats and said he saw no reason why the team could not add to the trophy cabinet.

‘I’ve been privileged to be a part of the Wildcats for five years and in those five years I’ve played in four grand finals. It’s not called a dynasty but to be part of such a great run, if we can continue this and win a few more on the back of this, it would be fantastic,’ Martin said.
