Yes, there were smaller goals to make the playoffs and to lock in top spot, so we had home court advantage.

But as a group, our determination at that time was to take the ultimate prize.

Teams will always say their goal is to win a championship.

If that’s not your goal, then you definitely aren’t challenging yourself.

But realistically, it is not achievable for every team and I mean no disrespect in saying that.

Every year I’ve been involved with the Perth Wildcats, we’ve had a chance to win a championship but unfortunately we have fallen at the last hurdle.

It’s always been said that you need a bit of luck to win a title. We haven’t had the best luck with injuries in recent years.

Our victory in Wollongong on Sunday was extremely pleasing ” through tough-nosed defence we were able to break open the game.

The league couldn’t have asked for a better grand final storyline with our opponents as determined as the Adelaide 36ers on Tuesday night.

A traditional rivalry already lies between the two clubs and this grand final series will definitely have plenty of emotion beginning at Perth Arena on Monday.

We are confident in our abilities; we have worked extremely hard to put ourselves in a position to play off for a championship.

Looking back at that meeting where we discussed our goal, it has brought us to where we our now ” with a chance to finish off something we all wanted to achieve.
