Jacks are back

They had a sluggish start to the season, but the Jacks are back in contention, sitting fifth on the table after a 4-1 win over fourth-placed Balcatta last Saturday.

A win away against eighth-placed Armadale this weekend could put them in a strong position as the midway point of the season approaches.

Against Balcatta, former Perth Glory winger Tommy Amphlett continued his strong run of form to net two goals.

Youngster Jack Oldham, just 16, impressed coach Salv Todaro.

‘I was really pleased with Jack, he’s maturing into a quality player and is learning every game,’ Todaro said.

Across town, Sorrento remains undefeated from seven games, but have won just three and drawn four.

A loss against third-placed Stirling this weekend could have the side lose second place.

The Gulls were disappointed to not have taken full points against cellar dwellers Bunbury away last Saturday. The sides drew 1-1, with the home side levelling with 15 minutes remaining.
