Joondalup in finals race

Four straight losses has dropped the Centurions, who were top of the ladder just two rounds ago, outside the final six.

The 2012-13 premiers need victory, and for Fremantle (5th) or Wanneroo (6th) to lose, if they’re to relieve some pressure heading into the final round.

Playing against Subiaco Floreat at home last Saturday, Joondalup was not far from chasing down the second-placed side’s 293.

A number of Joondalup batsmen made solid starts, but none could go on with it as the side was bowled out for 278.

James Newnham top scored with 53, while Josh Inglis (47) and Clinton Hinchcliffe (43) came close to joining him on the half-century list.

Subiaco-Floreat mixed it up in the bowling attack, with six different bowlers taking the ball with much success.

The side shared round its scalps with five of the six bowlers taking wickets, led by James Sansalone’s 2-18.

The side faces Bayswater-Morley on Saturday.
