WITH a severe weather warning issued for the South-West, round 2 of the Junior Motocross State Championship was held in wet conditions at Bunbury’s Shrubland Park.
In the May 21 event, local rider Kayden Minear won the 85/150cc nine to under-12 division from fellow northern suburbs juniors Deacon Paice and Dylan Walsh.
Paice also went on to win the 65cc 10 to under-12s ahead of Harrison Tapper and Seth Clark, while Minear also performed well in the 65cc seven to under-10s, coming second between Seth Shackleton and Kai McGinty.
Shackleton continued his winning streak in the 50cc auto, beating local riders Sonny Pellicano and Ryder Matthews-Taylor.
Corben Weinert also recorded two wins: in the 128-150/250cc 13 to under-16s ahead of Mat Fabry and Joe Di Giulio, and in the 100-125cc 13 to under-15s ahead of Conan Forrester and local rider Cody Richards. Forrester went on to win the 85/150cc 12 to under-16s from Seth Manuel and Cody Chittick, while Fabry won the 100-125cc 15 years from Jacob Daniels and Troy Austin.
In the quads, Harlee Young won the limited seven to under-11s from Nichole McDonnell and local rider Kiera-Lily Buckley, Deegan Lough won the comp eight to under-12s from local Keenan Murphy and Brooke Hall, and Jakob Bosustow won the comp 12 to under-16s from Jae Dowsett and Caelan Campione.
Round 3 will be at Collie Motorcycle Club on June 25, with the quads taking a break until round 4.
