The 18-year-old won a gold medal in the team sprint and silver in the kilo event at the under-19 national track championships in Brisbane last month.

He also broke a 2000 WA record in the sprints heat and, despite suffering burns during a high-speed crash in the quarter-final, finished fourth overall.

Kye has been selected as part of the Australian long team and will travel to Adelaide in June for a camp where the final team for the world championships will be chosen.
