‘My love of motorcycle racing started over 50 years ago when my uncle took me to a meeting at Oulton Park in the UK,’ he said.
‘I was hooked for life but never gave a second thought about the people who make these events happen and the countless volunteers needed to help run the day safely.’
Mr Fildes joined the Motorcycle Racing Club WA in 2005 as a flag marshal and was named Flag Marshal of the Year in 2012 and 2013.
‘I also help out at ride days and tuning days and have never considered it as anything other than being involved in a sport I love,’ he said.
‘Aside from the racing, I have made many great friends at the track and the camaraderie is in itself something special ” nothing quite like a cold beer and a laugh with mates at the end of the day.’
MCRCWA is seeking additional volunteer flag marshals for the 2014 season and provides training on the day or via a training course.
