Martial arts a family affair for Duckworths

Jenny and Michael Duckworth were recently crowned the best taekwondo players in WA in their respective divisions.

The martial arts mum took out the women’s masters class, while Michael was triumphant in the 68kg to 72kg open division at the Kwinana-based championships early last month.

The younger Duckworth, who trains at ATI Martial Arts in Joondalup, went into the tournament as reigning national champion, showing why he had earned that title.

Jenny said it was ‘brilliant’ waking up the next morning knowing they had secured the double family achievement.

‘There mustn’t be many mother and sons who are State champs,’ she said.
