‘I was really happy and proud (to be chosen). I really wanted to do well at basketball,’ she said.

This was not the first time Katherine had travelled interstate for sport, having captained the WA team at a national indoor netball competition in Queensland in December 2012.

She has also been very successful in little athletics, ‘medalling’ in the WA All Schools Championships in javelin and the WA Athletics State Championships in shotput and javelin, qualifying for both national championships.

She also won gold in shotput, silver in discus and came fourth in javelin at the Little Athletics State Championships that gained her a position on the WA national team, which again saw her travel to Canberra in April 2013.

While Katherine said she enjoyed participating in all three sports, basketball is where she would like to ‘take another step forward’.
