MX Nationals head to Wanneroo Park

AUSTRALIA’S best motocross riders descend on Wanneroo Park this weekend for round five of the MX Nationals.

The Neerabup track has not hosted a round since 2014.

It is known as one of the toughest courses in the country.

WA has a number of riders in the top two categories, with more than 10 of them having competed across the MX1 450 and MX2 250 races held in South Australia for round four on Sunday.

West Australians Robert Lovett (11th), Michael Mahon (17th), Craig Bolton (18th), Jake Watling (20th), Brett Norton (24th) and Joey Merrylees (29th) battled out the MX1.

Dean Porter (6th), Kyle Webster (14th), Jayden Rykers (8th), Josh Adams (19th) and Jessica Moore (29th) toiled the MX2.

South Australian rider Kirk Gibbs leads the MX1 category, while Victorian Jed Beaton is on top of the MX2.

Riders will have practice rounds on Saturday before contesting the main events on Sunday.

MX Nationals

Where: Wanneroo Park, Wattle Avenue East, Neerabup.

When: Saturday – $10 entry, practice 1pm, Pit Party 3pm.

Sunday – $30 single entry, racing 10.45am.

Kids under 15 free with paying adult.
