NBL: Perth Wildcats aim for home-court win over Andrew Bogut’s Sydney Kings

IT’S been a significant period of time since we’ve had our full contingent of players available and hopefully the basketball gods remain on our side and we can stay injury-free for the remainder of the season.

There’s no denying missing league MVP Bryce Cotton added some pressure to the games but I was reasonably pleased in terms of individuals stepping up and trying to fill the void while he was out.

Throughout the season, players have had opportunities to step up and contribute and I think this team will greatly benefit from this at the back end of the season.

We saw the return of our captain Damian Martin, and whilst he was on a minutes restriction, I thought he was simply sensational.

He will only continue to get better and I’m excited to see him and Mitch Norton terrorise opposition backcourts.

This week we see the Sydney Kings come into town and I’m sure there will be plenty of buzz.

We see Andrew Bogut come into our house and there is plenty of excitement surrounding his involvement in the NBL.

A former #1 NBA draft pick and NBA Championship winner, whilst Bogut’s play has been phenomenal on both ends of the court, I believe it’s the work off the court he has done which has made that outfit stronger.

It’s easily recognisable that players are trying to make teammates accountable. They have a distinct style and their culture will only grow.

For us, it’s about returning the favour and getting a win on our home court.

We have a brutal stretch coming up on the road and we want to start this period on a positive, and what better than winning in front of 13,000 Red Army fans.
