NBL: Perth Wildcats set for championship run

Greg HireWanneroo Times

It’s an extremely fun time of the year as well; it’s a reward for all of the hard work and pain you’ve had to endure throughout the season.

Some of us begin workouts in May, a reflection of the commitment we have to achieve success for this team.

There is no better feeling than winning a championship, which is elevated by the journey you share with your teammates.

We face an extremely talented Illawarra Hawks outfit with plenty of experience and a number of ex-Perth Wildcats.

Rob Beveridge is our former head coach, and former NBL and Wildcats MVP Kevin Lisch drives a star-studded line-up.

Kirk Penney, in my opinion, is the best shooter in the league.

For any young players looking at footwork to improve their game, his is textbook.

AJ Ogilvy has had an MVP-calibre season and our bigs will definitely have a challenge in facing him.

In recent weeks, the Hawks’ role players have been coming up big.

Rhys Martin is an experienced point guard who runs their offence well, while Cody Ellis and Kevin White have shown their playmaking abilities too.

We can’t take into account previous results of the season.

For us, we need to reward ourselves by consolidating home court advantage.

We have belief in our system and if run properly, we will manufacture a win.

Here is to another championship run!
