NBL: Perth Wildcats ugly win pretty pleasing

Greg HireWanneroo Times

THERE is no comparison in winning ugly to losing pretty; you take a win any way you can, especially on the road.

While maybe the win wasn’t aesthetically pleasing, there were plenty of takeaways from the game against Cairns that reassured me we are on the right path. Again, down three starters for the game, the depth in the squad showed up and was vital in the victory.

These sorts of games show the resolve of the team and come the back end of a season, when you’re searching for something, you can look back at previous games and reassure yourselves that you have the ability to perform in big occasions.

Playing in Cairns is always a formidable task, so to walk away with a win was satisfying.

We now turn our attention to quite the challenge with a little series against the New Zealand Breakers.

These games are one of the more difficult ones you face during the season as we head to New Zealand to back up with a game in a couple of days time.

Last time we faced each other we had some incredible performances off the bench from some of our youngsters, so I know they will be heading into Auckland with plenty of confidence.

Hopefully we get some of our studs back and we continue building as a team.
