NINE boxers from Nashy’s Boxing Club in Wangara will travel to England on September 8 for three weeks.

Owner Sean Nash said the not-for-profit club had fundraised to travel to north-east England to compete in three shows and train with several English clubs.

“Redcar Amateur Boxing Club have organised all our bouts and training as they came here to box 12 years ago and I organised their bouts against WA boxers back then,” he said.

“One of the boxers from the Redcar trip to Perth 12 years ago, Nicky Wiley, is actually the coach at Redcar and has matched up all the boys for us.

“English boxing is booming at the moment and we hope to get some great development.”

Nash said he lived in that part of England before moving to Perth where he and his brother boxed for Wanneroo.

“I come from the next town, Marske by the Sea, and went to school in Redcar and began my boxing career with Lingdale boxing in this area in 1986,” he said.
