The North Beach team and officials celebrate their win.

It was North Beach’s first grand final win at the junior cup level in the Football West competition involving divisions 1 to 5.

North Beach, led by coach Marco Lagana and manager Damian O’Brien, had to come from behind in the second half after the score was 0-0 at half-time.

‘It was a close and hard-fought game; a very even contest between two highly regarded teams,’ a North Beach spokesman said. ‘Perth Soccer Club scored early in the second half before North Beach’s Adam Gilbert equalised with a world-class strike from outside the box.

‘Perth responded with their second goal in short time. The North Beach boys dug deep, displaying excellent team work, skill and persistence when Kristian Petroski scored twice.

‘He received excellent passes from the midfield that resulted in North Beach coming from behind, leading and then winning the game.’
