Oakley proves a great indoors performer in a crisis

Now he’s hoping to have an impact on the international stage when he represents the Australian under-20s in the World Indoor Cricket Federation World Cup in New Zealand next month.

Over the past four years, former Joondalup district cricketer Blair Oakley has developed a talent for the indoor version of the game.

The most exciting moment of his cricketing exploits came in the grand final of the National Indoor Titles against Queensland in July.

Oakley was at the crease needing four to win off the final ball, which was worth double.

He mis-hit the delivery, but surged for the first run and then back for a second with partner Braydon Cosson. Somehow, Oakley scrambled home, avoiding two run-outs on the way.
