RACING driver Brooke Newson will stand out in her class this weekend.
The Pearsall resident is heading to Adelaide on Thursday to represent Perth in the Improved Production Nationals at the Bend Motorsport Park.
“I’m the only female competing in my class of 84 competitors,” she said.

Newson will race in a pink 1999 Subaru WRX GC8 in the November 9-11 competition as she nears the end of her 2018 season.
She said she hoped to compete in more national events next year after the next season starts in 2019.
Her achievements included being in the first all-female team with Steph Esterbauer to enter the Wanneroo 300 Enduro race doing 125 laps around Barbagallo Raceway in November 2017.
“We placed sixth outright and second in improved production class,” she said.
Newson juggles racing between her full-time job, fitness training and family, and said she’d made lifelong friends through motorsport.
“I love the atmosphere of an opening race day, the excitement among all the drivers and the adrenaline build-up while sitting on the grid, mapping out my start and waiting for the lights to go out,” she said.
“I’ve always been competitive and love the adrenaline rush that comes with racing.
“At an early age I remember nearly every Friday night my dad and I would go to the Claremont Speedway, which first sparked my love of motorsport.
“I starting racing speed boats down at Burswood at the age of 13. I won multiple state titles throughout my years of racing boats (and) came first in the state open hydroplanes back in 2009.
“From then, I had a few years break and then decided it was time to try something new. I started racing down at Barbagallo in 2015 in a Mitsubishi Mirage in improved production U1600cc.
“I placed third in the 2015 IPRA championship and third in the 2015 CAMS state championship.”
