Staff WriterWanneroo Times

Coming off a four-goal loss to the league-leading Melville Marlins the previous Saturday, the Phoenix and Bears battled for second position at Beatty Park this week.

And it was a contest that went right down to the wire between the second and third-placed teams, but it was City Beach who prevailed 8-7 in a frantic finish to the round 17 match.

Claire Pierce and Jessica Reynolds scored two goals each for the Phoenix with Zoe Stenhouse, Claire Rechichi and Alicia Anderson scoring one goal apiece.
