Pinjar Park Speedway: Jeff Gittus Memorial success for state champions

STATE champions Russell Mitchell and Andy Gajek added to their success with victory at the Jeff Gittus Memorial sidecar event last month.

Hosted at the Pinjar Park Speedway, the main event became a two-horse race after last year’s winners Scott Charsley and Matt Reese, who were unbeaten through the heats, were excluded from the final for touching the tapes at the start of the race.

Father and son duo Jeff and Daniel Bishop were second, with Charsley and Reese third.

Only two teams contested the junior sidecar event, with Jake Harvey and Tyler Solomon beating Fewster brothers Jack and Adam.

Also racing on the night were the 500cc solos, with Cameron Heeps taking top spot ahead of Daniel Winchester and Kale Ballantyne, and the 125cc, with former state champion Declan Killeen winning from Brad Gordon and Chris Bogdan.
