Quinns netball club named Goods Sports WA club of the year

QUINNS Districts Netball Club has been crowned WA club of the year at the national Good Sports Awards in Canberra.

Clubs from across the country were honoured at Parliament House on November 27 for their commitment to building healthy and inclusive environments through the Good Sports program.

The initiative encourages members look out for one another around alcohol and tobacco management, safe transport, healthy eating, mental health and positive spectator behaviour.

Quinns Districts Netball Club was named WA’s Good Sports club of the year and received $500 for inspiring positive change and building a healthy, family-friendly club.

Alcohol and Drug Foundation chief executive Erin Lalor, Quinns Districts Netball Club president Michelle Martin, Pearce MHR Christian Porter and club registrar Joscinta Cole.

“We were inspired to join Good Sports to provide the safest, most inclusive environment where all members have the opportunity to be involved,” president Michelle Martin said.

“We recognise the huge role sporting clubs play in junior development and will give anyone the opportunity to be part of a team, learn new skills, make new friends and have fun.

“Whether a member volunteers as coach, umpire, at the local sausage sizzle or as a regular spectator to games, we want to welcome everyone.”
