The North Queensland Cowboys-signed centreman starred with four tries in the new pre-season knockout tournament, including two in the Cowboys’ grand final triumph over the Brisbane Broncos.

Signing with the Cowboys last year, Rona played the entire season with the Mackay Cutters in Queensland’s top-level Queensland Cup.

The New Zealand-born 21-year-old will be looking to make his NRL debut this season.

His professional career began with the Sydney Roosters, where he played starting centre in the club’s National Youth Competition side, scoring 16 tries.
