THE Joondalup Wolves are two wins away from their fifth men’s State Basketball League grand final appearance from seven seasons.

But the dream has ended for the women in 2017.

The Lady Wolfpack’s quarter-finals series finished with a 2-0 sweep to Lakeside Lightning who defeated the Wolves 73-56 at Joondalup Basketball Stadium in game two on Saturday.

The men face third-seeded Geraldton in game one of the best-of-three semi-final series away on Saturday night.

Joondalup was given a scare by Cockburn in game two of the quarter-finals, with the Cougars taking a commanding victory 112-90 on Friday at Wally Hagan Stadium.

But the Wolves steadied in the decider on their home court the next night to eliminate the defending champions 86-65.

Trian Iliadis hit finals form with a game-high 34 points. Rob Huntington took 12 rebounds.

Joondalup returns home for games two and three if needed next weekend.
