THE Joondalup Wolves juggernaut will look to build upon a nine-game winning streak as the side rolls into a rivalry battle with the Stirling Senators in the State Basketball League this weekend.

The two City of Joondalup-based sides contest the third Battle of Joondalup for local bragging rights at HBF Arena on Saturday night.

Fourth-placed Stirling faces the biggest challenge in the league against the white-hot Wolves, who lead the competition with a 14-1 record.

Joondalup’s dominance showed no signs of waning last weekend when it easily came away from a double header with two wins.

The Wolves defeated Perry Lakes 95-67 away on Friday before disposing of Mandurah 107-75 at home on Saturday.

Joondalup import Jalen Billups took Player of the Round honours after scoring 32 points against the Hawks and 19 points against the Magic.

The Wolves debuted youngster Jake O’Brien, who took four points, two steals, an assist and a rebound from eight minutes of court time.

In the women’s competition, the 10th-placed Lady Wolfpack fell to a six-game losing streak after a 67-55 loss to Perry Lakes and 68-66 loss to the Magic.

Amy Kinder landed 17 points against Perry Lakes, while Chelsea Belcher top scored against Mandurah with 18 points.
