The Flippa Ball program is aimed at eight to 12-year-olds and is the only water polo program running between North Perth and Geraldton.

Chief executive Dale Ballantyne said volunteers would help the sport expand greatly.

‘At the moment we have one coach from Water Polo WA,’ he said.

‘I would love to see a parent jump up and say ‘I want to learn to coach’.’

Ballantyne said coaching water polo was similar to coaching other junior sports such as Auskick and all manuals and courses were provided.

‘Ultimately we would love to see a junior competition based around Joondalup, first it’s about establishing the Flippa Ball program and really making it successful.’

He said the program would not have started without sponsorship from Buccaneer Swimming Pools which provided new equipment, venue hire and development opportunities.

Flippa Ball runs Thursdays at 6pm and Sundays at 2.30pm, registrations at the door.
