Surfing WA marketing and PR manager Erin Molloy said she believed it was important to record the history of WA’s surfing pioneers and events.
‘We decided to look at areas of surfing that have affected the sport, but through the eyes of the association,’ she said. ‘It was clearly impossible to name every significant event or person so ultimately we decided via a panel of five people.’
Ms Molloy said the Scarborough-Trigg area was arguably Perth’s best summer location that also produced great waves in winter.
‘There were many sideline stories that came from interviewing people, or listening to stories, looking at photos,’ she said.
