The 19-year-old won the under-20 sprint and flag events while representing Australia at the 2013 International Surf Rescue Challenge in Japan from September 19 to 23.
He then joined three fellow teammates to win both the beach and taplin (swim, ski paddle, board paddle, run) relays.
‘It was a great honour to wear the green and gold cap ” representing Australia would have to be one of the most memorable experiences in my life,’ Symonds said.
