Teen hotshot chases the lead

The Koondoola resident recently beat 19 other drivers to win the Zamels and Morton Plate race at Barbagallo Raceway ” the youngest driver ever to do so. He is currently second in place overall in this year’s Formula Vee championship.

‘The Zamels plate has been raced for nearly 30 years in WA,’ he said.

‘During the race I found myself battling with fellow driver Dave Caisley, who is the 2012 State champion and leads the current championship.

‘We battled from the start to the finish with many lead changes.’

Jayden got his start in motor racing at a young age, first racing go-karts from the age of seven.

‘My father is a bit of an enthusiast and actually raced Go Karts, so it was inevitable that I’d end up in or on something with an engine,’ he said.
