Time to get tough after big defeat

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

We’ve been competitive in most games, but that one against the Bulldogs in round five has been the only one where our effort could be considered terrible.

We need to be wary of that when we face them again at Fremantle Oval on Sunday.

The players need to ensure they are more aggressive and committed this time round.

We’ll be taking a full-strength side into the clash with Chris Keunen, Matt Guadagnin and Marcus Adams returning to the team.

It provides us with another opportunity to get our forward structure right.

We have continued to work on our goal-scoring ability, which hopefully showed in our 74-point win over Western Storm in the Foxtel Cup on Tuesday night.

While we were clearly playing a side from a league a step below the WAFL, the players’ attacking approach to the game was pleasing.

As in our last Foxtel Cup match, it proved we are sporting a lot of depth at the club, with a number of young players stepping up to make strong contributions.

Seva Martin had a terrific game as a forward and second ruckman to leave us with plenty to consider for team structure.

However, we need to keep in mind he was against defenders much shorter than him, which would likely change at WAFL level.
