Anderson, who moved to Australia in 2011, said he had friends playing on the New Zealand team.

"I can't wait to take my skills to another level. I like the physical aspect of rugby so Im really looking forward to taking on Samoa as well," Anderson said.

He said the coaching at Wests Scarborough had contributed to his selection, with Wests Coach Dwayne Grace the rugby coordinator at Aranmore College.

Winter said he was excited at the opportunity to represent Australia and providing his parents their first opportunity to cheer on the green and gold.

"My parents are from New Zealand, and you always hear about the rugby culture there when you're growing up, it'll be good to go over there and see what it's all about considering they live and breathe it every day," he said.

The second rower said he was also expecting a good year from Wests Scarborough, following a win in their opening round.
