V8 return

It is the fifth time the utes have raced at Barbagallo in their 13-year history.

The first was in 2008 and this is the third year in a row since 2011.

The V8 ute lap record is held by Tony Longhurst set in a Holden VE 1:07.3147 in race 1 last year.

Wanneroo two-time V8 ute champion Grant Johnson set the first lap record at Barbagallo in race 3, 2008 in a time of 1.07.8272 and held on to that until race 3, 2012 when it was broken by Kim ‘The Assassin’ Jane.

Johnson is the most successful driver in the V8 utes at Barbagallo, having won the round almost every time he has raced at the event (2008 and 2011).

David Sieders (131) is leading this year’s championship.

Ford has won five races and Holden seven at Barbagallo.

Racing schedule:

Friday, May 16 ” practice 1, 8.40am, practice 2, 11.35am, qualifying 2.55pm.

Saturday, May 17 ” race 1, 9.40am, race 2, 3.45pm.

Sunday, May 18 ” race 3, 12.58pm.
