WA Premier Cricket: Wanneroo eye league leaders Claremont-Nedlands

Staff WriterWanneroo Times

WANNEROO needed just four wickets to eclipse Bayswater-Morley and secure its second win of the WA Premier Cricket season.

Beginning day two at 2-30, the Roos were looking to surmount the Bears’ 133, which they did with six wickets to spare before declaring at 9-238 in the two-day clash at Kingsway.

Opener Mitch McGee (62) produced the hosts’ biggest knock, combining with English import Dan Lawrence (59) for a 91-run third-wicket stand.

Ross Loiacono took 3-20 as the visitors’ best bowler.

Wanneroo started well in the hope of securing an outright win to have Bayswater-Morley, which needed more than 105, at 3-56.

But centuries from Mitchell Todd (116) and Josh Philippe (102), who produced an unbeaten 185-run stand, ensured Wanneroo did not get the extra points as the Bears declared at 4-257.

Seventh-placed Wanneroo faces undefeated Claremont-Nedlands on Saturday.
