WACA Premier Cricket: batting crucial to Wanneroo’s chances

A SENSIBLE performance with the bat could see Wanneroo to victory over Scarborough on day two of their WACA Premier Cricket clash on Saturday.

The Roos have a day to amass 111 runs for victory, having finished day one on 2-53 chasing the Gulls’ 163 at Kingsway.

Scarborough’s middle order steadied the ship after openers Jeremy Wood and Anthony Del Borrello fell for ducks and first drop Daniel Sadik made just one run.

Former Wanneroo batsman Wes Robinson and number seven Luke McQuade top-scored for the Gulls with 41 each.

The hosts were lifted by the return of captain Chris Quelch from a hand injury, with the skipper taking 2-24.

Kyle Millar was Wanneroo’s most effective with the ball, taking 3-49.

Wanneroo opener Aaron Brunner made 31 before being trapped LBW by Sadik late in the day.

Rob Richards and Jake Fawcett will resume Wanneroo’s innings on Saturday.
