WAFL: West Perth fundraiser brings AFL alumni together

CALLUM Chambers didn’t hesitate when his old club came knocking.

The West Perth 2003 premiership midfielder, who headed to Perth from Victoria when recruited by the West Coast Eagles, is one of several current and former AFL players invited to be part of a fundraising function on August 30 for the debt-stricken club.

He will be on a panel with other former Falcons in Eagles and Hawthorn premiership players Mark Seaby and Brad Hill, and Dockers star Stephen Hill.

“I was honoured to have been invited to join the panel and despite feeling a little inferior to the other panelists (AFL premiership players), didn’t hesitate to accept,” he said. “I just felt it was a great chance to express what the club has meant to me over the years, despite having grown up on the other side of the country.

“The club’s situation and future are not for me to comment on other than to say I’m really hopeful to keep taking my kids to watch the club I was lucky enough to represent.”

West Perth No. 1 ticket holder Basil Zempilas will host the Patersons Wealth Management-sponsored lunch and auction at the Falcons’ function centre at Joondalup Arena on August 30, at 1pm.
