WANNEROO held on for a two-run win in a free-scoring encounter with Subiaco Floreat in WACA first grade cricket.
The Roos lost just two wickets in recording 275, but the Lions were similarly impressive to return 3-273, falling just three runs short of victory in the one-day match at Floreat Park on Saturday.
WA batsman John Rogers produced Wanneroo’s biggest knock for the second-straight week with a commanding 138 not out.
Number four Jake Fawcett shared in the run haul with an unbeaten 105.
Subiaco Floreat opener Calum How (104) also amassed an unbeaten century in a tough day for bowlers from both sides. Gary Atkinson (1-74), Donavinn Fryer (1-45) and Kyle Millar (1-45) took singles for the Roos, while the Lions’ Glenn Stockden (1-66) and James Sansalone (1-40) snared the home side’s wickets.
Two-day cricket begins for the 2014-15 season this weekend with third-placed Wanneroo facing Bayswater-Morley at Kingsway on Saturday.
