WEST Perth pulled a game clear in second spot after a grinding Garlic Munchers Cup win over South Fremantle at Arena Joondalup on Saturday.

While the Falcons led for the majority of the WAFL clash, the Bulldogs offered them little breathing space with the margin never going beyond 16 points in a 9.17 (71) to 8.8 (56) victory in difficult conditions.

South Fremantle’s only lead of the match came with a 3.3 (21) to 3.2 (20) buffer at the end of the first quarter.

West Perth gained a two-goal lead in the second term, but the Bulldogs drew even by half time.

The hosts found a 15-point advantage during the third quarter, before the visitors pegged the margin back to a goal early in the final stanza.

The Falcons had six of the last eight scoring shots to claim a 15-point triumph.

West Perth’s Kody Manning kicked three goals, while Aaron Black led disposals with 27. South Fremantle’s Haiden Schloithe impressed with four goals.

The Falcons celebrate their annual International Round clash against Subiaco at Arena Joondalup on Saturday.

The Times has 10 tickets to give away for the match. They will go to the first readers who email wannerootimes@community news.com.au this week.
