The Rockingham business co-owner was awarded the highest individual honour award for her innovative work at Pro Art Murals, which is a manufacturer and wholesaler of pre-pasted wallpaper murals.

Mrs Newell, and husband and business partner Glenn, were presented with the Micro Business Award.

The creative couple has been in the mural business for the past five years, and are the only Australian business to have printing rights for Disney and Anne Stokes.

From Monsters Inc. to Disney princess murals, Pro Art Murals has brought characters to life on many bedroom and hospital walls.

Mrs Newell said it was an honour to have been recognised for the work she has done.

‘I design all of the wallpaper prints and do a lot of work behind the scenes so I am very grateful for this award,’ she said. ‘This has always been my dream and I have kept it in my focus, and could not be happier with how the business is going.’

More than 100 people attended the awards night including Brand MHR Gary Gray, Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels and Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams.
