Diving from a sky near you

The closest beach skydive to the Perth CBD will launch this weekend, with the new drop zone the third to open in Western Australia under the Skydive Express brand.

The controversial proposal to use 1.5km of beach (between Victoria Street to past Governor Road) as a landing zone was approved by the City of Rockingham in May.

The operator can land skydivers from 9am to 3pm seven days a week, except public holidays. The approval is initially only valid for six months.

Skydive Express spokeswoman Krishna Strickland said the Rockingham drop zone will encourage more people to get out of the city and experience more of Perth’s tourism offerings. ‘

Customers can choose a beach or city jump or get the feel for the real sport of skydiving at York, where we run learn- to-skydive courses,’ she said.
