Baldivis singer to represent Australia at Asia-Pacific French song finals

BALDIVIS singer Veruschka Pestano has won the Asia-Pacific Francophone song competition in Australia.

Veruschka won with Encore Un Soir (Jean-Jacques Goldman) and will represent Australia in Taipei, Taiwan on November 24 at the Asia-Pacific French song finals.

A soul/pop singer-songwriter, Veruschka has Jamaican and German roots. Music became a way for her to connect with her ethnicity while growing up in a predominately all white area.

Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley and Aretha Franklin became staples in Veruschka’s music library, and represent a small handful of many artists that have inspired her to sing.

Veruschka started singing initially as a hobby at church in her teens. A woman from her church offered to give Veruschka free singing lessons and she honed her voice and started songwriting.

A demo of Veruschka’s song Easier was a selected as a top 10 finalist in the Urban Music Category for the Oz Music Awards. She also performed at the MTV After Party. Veruschka has worked as a vocalist in film, released her own music independently and performs on regular basis.
