This year the annual event will have a focus on fashion and recent graduate from Bentley Polytechnic West, Remi Lane, was invited along with fellow student Cameron Leiter of Dawesville to take part.
Lane also won an award last year for “Range of the Year” with her Gold Dust Dreams collection, inspired by a love of horses.
“The colours were earthy with no blacks,” she said.
“The clothes were very flowing, 70’s bohemian style.
She said the selection criteria was based on how marketable each range was.
“The judges said they felt my range was cohesive and more commercial,” she said.
“Being commercial was the motivation for my range.”
Lane will begin selling her clothing range from October this year.
“It is all getting made at the moment and it will be available online,” she said.
Like her range of clothing, she had some down-to-earth advice for those unsure if they could make it in the fashion business.
“Probably just stick with it. Sometimes it gets hard, but stick with it to get motivated,” she said.
The Angelo Street Marketplace is an annual event that is part of the City of South Perth’s Fiesta.
Unique retailers, performers and cooks of culinary delights will display their crafts at the Marketplace.
Fiesta organisers are urging people to come enjoy the marketplace and keep an eye out for art installations and activations hidden in laneways around Angelo Street. There will also be music and pop-up bars along with food and games for little children.
The Angelo Street Marketplace runs 10am to 4pm this Sunday.
