Gabrielle JefferyWeekend Kwinana Courier

KNOWN for their natural, high-energy didge, drums and dance rhythms, local boys MoreDidge Brothers will get you grooving when they play the Bar Indigo at the Leisure Inn on Friday June 29.

Heavily featuring didgeridoo and acoustic guitar their style is a fusion of blues, roots, rock and reggae.

The band formed in 2012 with Aiden Varro on guitars and vocals, Tim Watkins on drums, Nate Lansdell on bass and Italian Fiorino Fiorini on didgeridoo.

It will be a night of local flavour as the band is supported by fellow local acts Jamie Gresham and Blue Child Collective.

Originally named Moorditj (meaning good, solid or deadly) from the Noongar language out of respect for the people and the culture, a tweak on the name to MoreDidge sees the band solidly focus on their tunes as they prepare to take on Europe with dates in Italy and Austria in July.

Gracing festival stages including Mandurah (Crabfest), Ravenswood Blues & Roots, Wallaby Creek, Donnybrook Apple, Dwellingup Pumpkin and Toodyay Music festivals they have perfectly replicated the festival band spirit in the studio with their debut album, Royal Tea.

It was produced by Matt Gio (Abbe May, Katy Steele, San Cisco, Birds of Tokyo, Gyroscope, Ruby Boots) at Rada Studios.

The album expands on the band’s unique sound through encompassing electronic and synth aspects.
