THE Mount Home for Retired Theatricals is an unusual place – more like a country house hotel than a home for the elderly.

As Jules Sullivan (Sue Murray) says “waited on hand and foot – no meals to prepare – beds made.”

Manageress Ann Thompson (Helen Brown) encourages residents to carry on working as long as they can.

So when Walter Neville (Rex Gray) a small part veteran of 212 films, arrives, he is overjoyed to find some of his best friends in residence.

All is well until Edmund Sullivan (Ian Butcher) the serial womaniser and former husband of three of the residents Jules Sullivan, Phyllida Sullivan (Beryl Francis) and Rebecca Sullivan (Sue Walker) turns up, apparently on the run from Russian mafia boss Mike Molinsky (Jason Wall), supported by his two sidekicks Ivana (Jacki Gahan) and Irina (Tegan Breann Joyce), the ladies decide that he who pays the bills must be rescued.

Former television hero Danny Stiller (Ronald Gent) is having a bad episode after the loss of his wife (many years ago) until he meets the robust Russian Irina.

What follows is a truly daft journey into the world of eccentricity that provides some of the best comic roles for senior actors you are ever likely to come across.
