Rockingham artists showcased at inaugural Open Studios – Art and Artists Exhibition

EXPRESSIONS of interest for the inaugural Open Studios – Art and Artists Exhibition in Rockingham open next month.

As part of the exhibition 2019, six local artists will be given the opportunity to work in-residence at the Rockingham Arts Centre to engage with the community, display and sell their artwork.

Two fortnightly residency blocks will be offered to three selected artists at a time. The first block will run from Wednesday, July 31 to Sunday, August 11, with the second block being held from Wednesday, August 28 to Sunday, September 8.

During these dates artists will be at the Rockingham Arts Centre from 10am to 3pm, giving visitors the chance to interact with them directly.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged artists across the community to get involved in the exhibition.

“The City is home to many wonderful artists and the first ever Open Studios – Art and Artists Exhibition gives them the opportunity to showcase their talent,” he said.

“Soft opening nights will be held on the first Friday of each residency block, with residents invited to engage with selected artists during a 20 minute collaborative artist talk.
