SHOALWATER artist Yvonne Stuurstraat will have a selection from her life’s work on display in her debut exhibition in Rockingham this month.
The exhibition is the culmination of 44 years of creativity for the passionate artist.
Mrs Stuurstraat studied art for five years at John Forrest Senior High School. She later moved to Northcliffe to raise her family and developed a passion for expressing the wonder of nature through art.
After moving with her family to Tasmania, Mrs Stuurstraat launched several art-oriented businesses, such as a Creative Memories consultant (photographic scrap-booking classes and sales).
She also sold bespoke candle-makers at a stall at the Salamanca Markets in Hobart.
Upon returning to WA to live, Mrs Stuurstraat joined local art groups and took several art courses at Tafe.
She has worked in many forms of media including paintings, drawings and sculptures.
She enjoys presenting a wide range of themes through varied artistic styles.
Mrs Stuurstraat’s studio overlooks Lake Richmond, where she gleans much inspiration.
