Song speaks of loss, survival. Emelia

Vanessa SchmittWeekend Kwinana Courier

Describing herself as an independent adult contemporary artist writing Christian-based pieces to inspire and uplift listeners, Kara wrote Emelia after her first miscarriage.

Emelia is a very personal song that was written about our own experiences of pregnancy loss,” she said.

“Three years ago we had an ectopic, which resulted in the loss of three little lives all at once.

“That loss is also where the design artwork for the song comes from.

“Twelve months later we lost another little life.

“All four of our angel babies are sorely missed despite never being able to hold them.”

Emelia was recorded in one take and is imbued with the raw emotion that comes with such devastation.

“Writing and recording this song was incredibly difficult but it really helped to express some of the pain we were going through and to say aloud that we know we can survive,” Kara said.

“I pray Emelia will be a blessing to others who have experienced this loss.”
