Presented by Dark Psychic Productions and directed by Ryan S. McNally at Phoenix Theatre, Zombie Prom is set at Enrico Fermi High School, where the pretty senior girl, Toffee, falls for the class bad boy.

Family pressure forces her to end the romance and he charges off on his motorbike to a nuclear waste dump and returns glowing, determined to reclaim Toffees heart and graduate from high school.

Urban plays Ramona Merengue, a romantic diva.

She falls in love easily and adores the entertainment world as long as its about her, she said.

I found the show appealing because of its pure corniness, the one-liners, costumes, singing and dancing, which is basically the lot.

Describing herself as someone who always has her finger in the acting pie, Urban has previously performed at the Koorliny Arts Centre and with Dark Psychic Productions in When The Lights Go Down and The Brain From Planet X.

She also operates her own MC business, Talking It Up, and works with shy children aged three and four, bringing them out of their shells with singing, dancing, music, art, craft and drama.

With Zombie Prom, the main challenge is to remember all the dance moves because there are a lot of them, Urban said.

Director Ryan S. McNally said Zombie Prom was full of cheesy 50s humour andwas fun for the entire nuclear family.

Its full of dancing and singing and leans more towards a pop-rock opera with an underscore through the majority of the show, he said.

The songs are upbeat, camp and super-catchy, and do an awesome job telling the narrative.

It has strong similarities to Grease in the sense of sound and feel.

Zombie Prom plays at 8pm, September 10 to 12, September 17 to 19, and September 24 to 26, with a 2pm matinee September 20.

Tickets are $25 adults, $20 concessions and children.
