Tim SlaterWeekend Kwinana Courier

A $9.1 MILLION upgrade of the wastewater system in Secret Harbour and Port Kennedy has been completed to cater for future growth in the area.

Water Minister Mia Davies said work included construction of 6.2 km of new wastewater pipe along Warnbro Sound Avenue and upgrades at pump stations located on Warnbro Sound Avenue, Swanson Way and Naples Place.

“Population is expected to double in these two suburbs by 2025 and this upgrade will ensure the wastewater system can accommodate this rapidly growing part of the City of Rockingham,” Ms Davies said.

“The Water Corporation worked closely with the community and the City of Rockingham to reduce as much as possible any inconvenience during the construction period.

“Residents were also provided with the opportunity to receive updates via text message from the Water Corporation when work on the upgrade came close to their home.

“I thank the local community and road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work was carried out.”
